Bli Bli is a suburb located in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It sits 6 miles of Maroochydore in the local government area of the Sunshine Coast region.
It also lies above the wetlands, where the former sugarcane industry was located.
Bli Bli was surrounded by the suburbs of Kulangor, Parklands, Nambour, Maroochy River, Rosemount, Marcoola, Pacific Paradise, and Maroochydore.
It had a population of 6, 283 in 2011.
History of Bli Bli
The name Bli Bli was derived from the term bilai, a Kabi term, meaning sheoak tree.
The first school in the region opened on April 1901 and was known as the Bli Bli Provisional School. Later in 1909, the school became a State School.
Bli Bli had its receiving office in 1898. In 1903, the first post office in the region started its operation but was closed in 1954. The current post office in the suburb was established in October 1987.
The Bli Bli Castle became a popular tourist attraction in the town. It is a Medieval-styled castle opened in 1973. To date, this destination features coffee shop, large doll display, and medieval paraphernalia.
